Diagnose Culture and Drive Change with Confidence

Looking to foster a healthier, high-performing workplace? Join us November 20 from 8 - 9:30 AM Central Time for this virtual session with Ted McKinney, Ph.D. designed to equip OD professionals with practical tools to create a psychologically safe culture, assess what’s working (and what’s not), and lead sustainable change. You’ll explore a unique diagnostic framework inspired by veterinary science and dive into a longitudinal case study spanning five years at Hawthorne Animal Hospital.

Through real-world insights and data-driven strategies, you’ll learn how to pinpoint hidden cultural challenges, engage leaders in modeling better behaviors, and turn aspirational values into everyday actions.

Learning Objectives:

  • Build a psychologically safe culture that supports innovation, engagement, and retention.
  • Apply the Veterinary SOAP framework to assess and align your organization’s culture with its strategy.
  • Analyze a longitudinal case study to identify what drives (or hinders) successful culture change over time.

About the Speaker

Ted McKinney is an organizational culture expert and founder of Ted McKinney Consulting, helping mission-driven organizations improve performance through leadership development, strategic alignment, and developing psychologically safe cultures. Drawing on two decades of experience—including executive leadership in veterinary healthcare, behavioral health, and nonprofit sectors—Ted brings a practical, systems-thinking approach to workplace challenges.

Ted earned his Ph.D. in Values-Driven Leadership from Benedictine University, exploring how leader behavior influences psychological safety. His insights inform both his consulting practice and his recent book, Walk Your Talk: Making Sense of Leadership.

As Director of Operations at Hawthorne Animal Hospital, Ted led a transformative culture initiative that spanned five years and contributed to 14 consecutive quarters of growth. His innovative use of the SOAP diagnostic model—borrowed from veterinary medicine—serves as the foundation for this session’s framework.

Ted is certified in The Predictive Index, Hogan Assessments, and The Fearless Organization Scan. He is passionate about helping OD professionals turn values into everyday behaviors and lead change with confidence.
