Get Involved

As a non-profit organization, we survive and thrive on the dedication of our volunteers!  Most STL-ODN programs and services are provided to members by members who generously contribute their expertise, time, and resources. You influence the degree to which the STL-ODN grows and develops to meet your needs.  Benefits of volunteering and opportunities for you to get involved are listed below.  To get signed up or for more information on ways you can get involved, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator

Benefits for You:

  • Grow your professional network
  • Enhance your visibility within the local OD community
  • Build your leadership experience
  • Give back to the professional community
  • Leave a lasting impact by helping to shape the future of the organization

Opportunities for You:

  • Serve on Our Executive Team:  The Executive Team is responsible for providing overall leadership and strategic direction for the ongoing operation and health of the STL-ODN. Each ET member has a core area of operational responsibility and works collaboratively to achieve ET goals. The ET holds regular monthly meetings and typically holds two meetings for transition and strategy planning.  Assuming a match of skills and interests to the position, preference for ET membership is given to individuals who have been active in the local OD community.
  • Present at a Meeting:  If you would like to present at one of our upcoming programs, please send a proposal to our Programs Chair. Proposals should include the topic, title and outline of the presentation, speaker biography, and previous speaking engagement references. If you would be willing to fill in on short notice due to last-minute cancellation, please indicate that in the proposal as well.  Presentation proposals are evaluated on the following criteria:  Is the topic of interest to a wide variety of STL-ODN members?  Is the proposed speaker a subject matter expert?  Is the speaker capable of delivering an informative, credible presentation in a way that involves the audience and captivates their attention?

  • Serve on a Committee:  We have four committees made up of members who work with an Executive Team member directly to execute a strategic initiative:  programs, communications, conference, and membership program.

  • Work with Our Partners:  As part of our Community Outreach initiative, we partner with other local non-profit organizations, like the United Way.
