Transforming... Our Practice, Our Impact, Our Community

Thursday, September 11, 2014 – Crowne Plaza St. Louis- Clayton

In Organization Development and Change (2009), Cummings & Worley said, “To be relevant, OD practitioners and the field as a whole must act together to influence the future they prefer or adjust to the upcoming future. Moving OD toward rigor and relevance requires more than simple extensions of existing theory and practice. OD’s ability to contribute to an organization’s success, to shape globalization, or unite the trends within OD will depend on its ability to generate new and more powerful interventions that draw on new models and integrated values in pursuit of responsible progress.”

As we look to the future, it will be increasingly important to understand the future of OD and to discover new ways to transform our practices as well as the organizations in which we interact.

The 2014 STL-ODN Annual Conference will explore transforming OD through our practice, our impact, and our community.

The day will kick off with a keynote address by Dr. Benjamin Akande, Dean of Webster University’s Walker School of Business, who will discuss how leadership is enabled through effective storytelling and how this can be used to expand our sphere of influence as OD professionals.

A second general session led by Sherry Duda, member of the National OD Network Board of Trustees, will provide the opportunity to learn about and contribute to ODN’s International Competency Model before it is released more broadly to members.  You’ll also have an opportunity to identify the shifts that are driving the need for new skills and competencies, and explore with fellow OD professionals the skills, competencies, and behaviors that contribute to success.

Conference participants will also have the opportunity to choose from concurrent sessions, including Truly Human Leadership: Barry-Wehmiller’s Unique Approach to Radically Transforming Business, Professionalizing ‘X’- Organization Transformation by North Highland, a “teamed" speaker session highlighting a local St. Louis organization, and a World Café session where you can contribute, listen and connect with fellow professionals on key topics of the day.  Additional details about all sessions will be coming soon.

Following the conference, join us for a cocktail reception where attendees can network and discuss what they learned with other OD practitioners.
