PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

How would you go about assessing an organization's health? What criteria would you consider? What unique value can the OD practitioner provide?

Our April 2013 program will begin to answer these questions by considering the St. Louis United Way’s approach to measuring the health of non-profit organizations who receive United Way funds.  United Way’s robust, multi-disciplinary method of assessing organizational health examines the effectiveness of the non-profit’s programs, governance, administration and financial practices and the result informs significant financial decisions.  We will discuss the unique value that OD practitioners bring to an organizational assessment process and how these principles can apply to the for-profit world as well.

Participants will try applying United Way’s method to assess the organizational health of either a hypothetical non-profit organization or a table participant's own organization.

Finally, we will briefly discuss a specific opportunity for participants to volunteer as a St. Louis United Way assessor.  This is an opportunity to give back while increasing the visibility of OD the St. Louis community.
