People Can’t Align to a Strategy They Don’t Understand

A Corporate Executive Board survey found that almost 67% of employees are significantly unproductive because they aren’t clear on what they are supposed to be doing. This lack of clarity is one indicator of misaligned workers and one of the most influential factors in failing to execute strategy. Addressing the lack of clarity starts with the C-suite.  OD leaders can play a significant role in strategy formation and execution by doing two things:

  • Ensuring the C-suite has addressed the most critical strategic questions.
  • Ensuring that employees understand how the answers to these questions affect their daily work.

Andy Kanefield of Dialect, Inc. and Justin Woodard, President of Woodard Restoration & Cleaning, a Dialect client, will lead program participants in discussions that will bring greater clarity on barriers to employee understanding of your strategy and alignment to it.

Participants will walk away with the following

  • The most critical strategic questions that every organization must answer.
  • A simple system for understanding how neuroscience helps you translate your strategy to maximize the engagement of your employees.

About the Facilitators

Andy Kanefield is the founder of Dialect, IncDialect helps organizations grow faster by aligning their people to their strategy.  Improved alignment can be achieved through recognizing the impact of cognitive diversity--we are each wired differently and are motivated by different parts of an organization's identity.

The genesis of Dialect was an integration of what Andy learned as the parent of a son with special needs and as a partner in an advertising agency. Andy is currently a member of the Association for Corporate Growth and a board member of The St. Louis Arc, a non-profit agency dedicated to helping individuals with special needs and their families.  He received his B.A. in Sociology from the University of Colorado.

As the 3rd generation owner, Justin Woodard currently serves as the President and CEO of Woodard Cleaning & Restoration, a local, family-owned company that helps families and businesses in the St. Louis region clean up and rebuild after fire and water damage.

In Justin’s tenure with the company he has served in a variety of roles - from IT Manager to CEO and Rug Plant Operations Manager to Vice President of Operations.

Justin supports organizations dedicated to having diverse conversations about how to create equitable learning and growth opportunities for everyone in our communities. Currently he serves on the Finance Committee at the St. Patrick’s Center and on the boards of Midtown Community Services and We Stories.
