Program Description

Socratic Questioning and Leadership in the 21st Century

Presenter: Dr. Frank Giuseffi

The “knowledge society” is upon us, and independent thinking, self-direction and entrepreneurship are essential attributes to have for today’s global challenges.  As a result, today’s business leader must possess and develop in his or her organization critical thinking, creativity, character, collaboration, team-building and empathy.

An effective way to develop these skills and create a culture of shared leadership and thoughtful dialogue is through an ancient technique of learning known as the Socratic Method.  Along with this invaluable form of dialogue, an examination of philosophy in the thoughts of Aristotle and Machiavelli can also improve the leader’s ethical decision-making and sense of prudence.

Are you interested in adding the time tested tools of the ancient philosophers to your toolbox as an effective 21st century leader?  Come join us on November 10th and learn how the Socratic Method and these philosophers can shed new light on your experience as a leader and give you further knowledge that will move your organization forward.

Key takeaways from the session:

  • Relevance of ancient wisdom for today’s leaders
  • Real-world examples using the Socratic Method
  • Asking better questions as opposed to seeking quick answers
  • How using Socratic Leadership can assist you in your role as an OD practitioner, consultant, coach, or facilitator
