Our Innovative Approach

Because our focus this year is on innovation, it seemed a bit odd to do our conference in a "traditional" way.  To that end, we’ve planned a collaborative, conversation-centered event to encourage creative thinking and an energetic exchange of new ideas.  This exciting approach will focus on several key themes:

  • Innovation:  What role should OD play in innovation, and how might we encourage our organizations to support innovation instead of resisting it?
  • Organizational Change Management:  Management of organizational change is essential, but what are more cutting edge approaches, both for the process and how we talk to clients and colleagues about change?
  • Supporting Leaders Who Embrace Innovation:  How can OD identify, support, and coach creative, innovative thinking in current and future leaders?
  • Innovation from Multiple Generations:  Our organizations can benefit from the knowledge, experience, ideas of all of the people in the organization, regardless of age.  Multiple generations in one organization bring wisdom and new ideas from different perspectives.  How can OD help organizations innovate by tapping into the strengths of all generations and perspectives?
  • Individual and Organizational Competencies:  OD professionals help build competencies in organizations as well as within themselves, by staying on the cutting edge in their own thinking and practice. How can each of us stay ahead of the curve and model innovative thinking in our own work?
  • Best Practices:  What are our members doing now that would help us all grow as a profession?  How do we help create a culture of innovation and creative thinking in both STL-ODN and our own organizations?
  • What Else?  You tell us!  What other innovative ideas and discussions would you like to bring to the table?
