PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

Almost Fool-Proof Coaching Strategies for Managers

As OD practioners, we are often asked to help management team members - from supervisors to VPs - to provide feedback and coaching.  Common hurdles at all levels include:

  • How do get the conversation started?
  • How do I keep things from getting personal?
  • How do I avoid the trap of solving problems for people?
  • What do I do when someone won’t accept ownership of an issue?
  • Is there a way to coach a peer when I don’t have the “authority” to do so?
  • How do I help my strong performers, who are getting stuck in one area, figure out what to do?

Over the past several years, the BJC Institute of Learning and Development (BILD) has developed a tiered coaching approach, stringing together several models.  Most of the acronyms and coaching elements are now part of the culture and language across the 2000+ leadership team.

During this session, you’ll learn about and have a chance to experience 3-4 coaching models - from simple to robust.

  1. Three Magical Questions
  2. SWAG and SBAR
  3. Peer Coaching
  4. The GROW Model
