PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

Join us for a discussion of key approaches to global and international organization development including primary ways of thinking about differences in national cultures, economic development, and political systems and their implications for the practice of major OD interventions including successful global and international OD work.

BIO(s):
Dr. Sorensen and Dr. Yaeger will present research gathered from around the globe including Southeast Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. In examining these trends in practice, we will discuss the future of global OD and the future role for OD practitioners. Ultimately, attendees will leave with a better idea of what leads to successful OD work – whether it is large or small.

Peter F. Sorensen, PhD, is professor and director of the PhD program in Organization Development, and the M.S. Program in Management and Organizational Behavior at Benedictine University. He has authored more than 300 articles, papers and books, including a number of best paper selections. His work has appeared in the Academy of Management Journal, Group and Organization Studies, Leadership and Organization Development Journal, Journal of Management Studies, and Organization and Administrative Science, among others. He has been chair of the ODC Division of Academy of Management, and serves on editorial boards for OD Journal, the OD Practitioner, and the French journal, RSDG (Revue Sciences de Gestion).

Dr. Therese Yaeger is Professor at Benedictine University in the PhD-OD, and MS in Management and Organizational Behavior programs. Managerial and consulting roles during her more than 25-year professional career have included roles in manufacturing, small business, government, and military. Publications include Critical Issues in Organization Development: Case Studies for Analysis and Discussion,” with Sorensen and Johnson (2013), Global Organization Development: Managing Unprecedented Change” with Sorensen and Head (2006), and “Appreciative Inquiry: Foundations in Positive Organization Development,” with Cooperrider, Sorensen and Whitney (2005). Yaeger is a Past Chair of Management Consulting Division of Academy of Management. She is former President of the Midwest Academy of Management.
